This is an amazingly powerful question to recenter someone who is spinning out emotionally. I often talk about keeping the goal in mind to help you not get off track. This question does that for you and someone else.
This is a way to bring people back from getting lost in the weeds. Which hill do we want to die on in this argument? Are we going to get caught up in a $250 issue on a million-dollar property?
Adding the word “here” is especially effective. It focuses them on looking at where they are and could pull them out of the emotional state.
