This is one of the best charts to see what has happened to the Portland Real Estate Market.
2005 was our most active year though prices didn’t peak until June 2006. 2001 and 2002 were very similar.
You can see that the second quarter is always significantly ahead of the first, which is great. What isn’t so nice is that in the last two years the fourth quarter sales were lower than the first quarter.
Last year the second and third quarter were near identical. Lower interest rates have brought more buyers and activity in Portland since late January. Can that help our market while foreclosures continue and unemployment numbers grow?
On a happier note this chart seems to backup the belief that Spring is when the sales happen. Click here for the full Portland Real Estate market report.
And lastly, here is a 10-year chart of average prices for all homes sold in the Portland Metropolitan area. We have regressed to September 2005 prices.
