April is here and so is the activity in the Portland metro area. I am continuing to track the Pending activity which I believe shows at least the intent of buyers even if the homes don’t sell. For 2009,
- Jan 1062 (470 the first half and 592 the second)
- Feb 1142
- March 1523, as of March 24th there were 1110 pending listings.
Pending activity has picked up nationwide according to NAR, National Association of Realtors.
To see how far we have dropped look at these numbers from 2006 these were the pending numbers,
- January 2285
- February 2432
- March 3068
It seems that we are running about half the rate then when we were at the top. Finally I decided to look at 2001 numbers which was when things were relatively slow and we were just coming out of a recession.
- January 1975
- February 2169
- March 2380
To be honest those weren’t the numbers that I was expecting. I would have expected something closer to current numbers. I will be tracking April’s numbers with great hope and expectation.
