Real Estate Agent Trap #12 -Being Flexible

If you got into this business because of it’s “flexible” schedule, there’s a good chance you are screwed. This isn’t flexible until you get rolling, maybe.

The definition of an entrepreneur is someone who would rather work 50 hours for themselves than 40 hours for someone else for the same money. This takes hard work and there are many jobs including in being an agent and you aren’t awesome at them all. No one is. So you are going to have to muck through it while getting your career going.

This career is like a plane taking off. It takes a bunch of energy, there’s a lot of shaking and if you let off to soon, you’re going to crash.

I should stop calling it a career. It’s a lifestyle. While you have to compartmentalize things and be in the moment of where you are, things will come up. Opportunities will present themselves. Problems will present themselves.

I tell new agents that they will have to decide between taking a call or walking into the theater with their spouse. When you are hungry and needing a deal, that decision is tough.

At points in your career, you will only be as “flexible” as your client’s needs.
