Whole House Fans

by Mike on April 28, 2008

I love clever ideas. I seem to be one of the few who didn’t know about this solution to cooling off a home. I came across this about three weeks ago when I listed the home on Huntington. And the fan is powerful.

I was showing the home and the buyer turned the fan on. I opened the sliding glass door and the wind was rushing in stronger than any breeze I have felt. I don’t think you would want to turn it on without some windows open. My clients said that you can’t leave it on for long in the night because it would be too cold before long.

In the Pacific NW there are few days where we really need AC. Even on the really hot days you would have a great breeze throughout the home. I will be most likely adding this to my home in the next few months. The unit is priced from about $200-$400 plus installation costs and ducting I would imagine.
